US-Mattress.com is the online business of Mattress USA, Inc., an e-commerce company based in Brighton, Michigan, since its creation in 2001. The company specializes in retailing mattresses over the internet. The slogan for US-Mattress is "How to Buy a Mattress."
History
US-Mattress.com began in 2001 as a joint venture between the entrepreneurs Joe Nashif, the founder of US-Appliance.com, and Rich Winkler and Jay Bale, of Mattress Plus, a retail mattress business. US-Mattress is the largest Sealy mattress retailer in Michigan and among the largest mattress retailers in the midwest. In 2009, the company was listed #458 as one of the "Top 500" online retailers, according to Internet Retailer magazine, based on online gross revenue. In addition, US-Mattress also operates other furniture websites including FurnitureCrate.com and DaybedDeals.com.
Comfort Scale
US-Mattress is the creator and trademark owner (serial number: 78680551) of the "Comfort Scale", which enables a consumer to determine the firmness of a mattress without the need to feel a mattress in person. This is done through the use of a descriptive 10 point rating scale with associated definitions (1 is hardest, 10 is softest, etc.)
