Umesh Kumari

Umesh Kumari is a prominent provincial public figure in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, the largest state of the Union of India. She works actively in three fields: politics, social work and education.
Early life
Umesh Kumari was born in the small village of Sahara Khurd in Aligarh district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh in a Jat family. His father was Girwar Singh, who was Village Mukhiya (Pradhan) for consecutive 5 terms, i.e., 25 years. She was born in a family of farmers and went on to secure a bachelor's degree in science (BSC), master's degrees in history, economics, political science (MA) and education (M.ed). She is doctrate (PHD) in Indian History.
Umesh Kumari got married in a family of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers in Gonda, Aligarh . Her father in law Shri Prabhakar Singh Verma was an active RSS Jila Sangh Chalak. So She obviously got associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1980's and remains connected till now.
Political career
In 1989, Dr. Umesh Kumari was appointed District President of bhartiya janta party women wing in three districts : Aligarh Village, Aligarh Mahanagar and Hathras. She played an important role in connecting to women cadres during Ram Mandir Aandolan (1989-1995). In 1995, She won the elections of Member and Chairperson of the district board of then unified Aligarh and Hathras districts. This electoral victory was significant because there was Samajwadi party (SP) government in the Uttar Pradesh at that time and Mulayam Singh Yadav was the chief minister. So only very few districts were wone by BJP. In 2001, Dr. Umesh Kumari was made Vibhag Sanyojak by BJP Uttar Pradesh Unit to work in five districts : Aligarh Village, Aligarh City, Hathras, Kasganj and Etah, the post she occupied till 2007. She also fought member of legislative assembly (MLA) election on BJP ticket in 2002 and 2007. She was also appointed the member of the executive council of BJP Uttar Pradesh unit for three years.
Educational Carrier
Dr. Umesh kumari worked as leturer in Lagasama Inter College, Gonda, Aligarh between 1989 to 2011. In 2011, She became principal of Uttam Inter College, Aligarh. She has been very vocal on issues related to spread and problems of education and organised many conferences, protests and programs in this regard. She is also serving as Uttar Pradesh Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Principal Council, Lucknow. In July 2015, She was appointed as the President of the Aligarh Unit of council. Since 2009 till now, Umesh Kumari is also serving as the president of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, a famous English medium senior secondary school, situated at Khair road, Aligarh.
Social Work
Apart from association with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Umesh Kumari also works for issues related to farmers. She was appointed member of Food Corporation of India by Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. She is also a strong supporter of women empowerment and works in this direction. As a scholar in Indian history, she argues the role of Subhas Chandra Bose should be rewritten and emphasised more in the new context. Since 2009, she has been trustee of Netaji Subhas-INA Trust, New Delhi. The trust has been demanding the complete declassification of Netaji files and creation of a Netaji memorial in New delhi.
