Tyler Adkison

Tyler Makoto Adkison (born May 8, 1995) is an NCAA Division I American Collegiate Baseball League player. Adkison was undrafted as an outfielder/first baseman out of high school and chose to sign his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at San Diego State University.
Prep Career (2009-2013)
Adkison attended Culver City High School for his freshman and sophomore years and played under Rick Prieto. Adkison was selected to participate in the 2011 USA Baseball National Team Trials at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, NC. He transferred to Mater Dei High School to finish high school. Adkison was part of the Mater Dei Monarch squad, winning back-to-back USA Baseball National High School Invitational championships at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, NC. The 2013 Monarch baseball team was highly decorated with numerous accolades and recognitions. Amongst these was a Maxpreps pre-season top 10 national ranking and a Baseball America number 1 national ranking. Adkison participated in the 2013 Trinity Bat Company Home Run Challenge winning the high school division and losing to Nick Ramirez of the Milwaukee Brewers for the open division championship. The Los Angeles Times named Adkison a top prospect to watch for the 2013 season as well as an uncommitted player with top credentials.
College Career (2014-Present)
"He split time between starting in right field and as the designated hitter. He was the starter in right field over the final 25 contests of the season. At the 2014 Mountain West Tournament he went 7-for-21 (.333) with three doubles, five RBI and four runs scored ... Had a season-best seven-game hitting streak from April 19-29. Over that period went 9-for-28 (.321) with three RBI and four runs scored. He hit his lone home run of the season in the win over Purdue at home on March 17, a solo shot to left field to lead off the fourth inning. He had a season-best three hits (including a double) in the win over UNLV on May 10 ... Matched that hit total in the conference tournament opener with three hits including a double vs. San Jose State.
"He had a season-high four RBI in that contest as well. He scored multiple runs (two) on seven occasions He did not commit an error in 68 chances over 38 appearances in right field. Adkison drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning against West Virginia on Feb. 22. His single in the bottom of the eighth inning vs. Fresno State on March 28 drove in the winning run in SDSU's 2-1 win. He grounded into one double play in 205 plate appearances. He ended the regular season by going 5-for-11 with two doubles, a triple, three RBI and three runs scored during the three-game series at Fresno State May 15-17. He is a member of the Mountain West All-Academic Team." Played under Head Coach Tony Gwynn. Competed for the Quincy Gems in the Prospect League (Collegiate Summer League).
In 2015 he suffered a broken jaw during pre-season and red-shirted for the 2015 season. Played in the Northwoods League during the summer of 2015 for the Eau Claire Express. Received 3 Northwoods league player of the night honors. He finished tied for 10th in The Northwoods League with 6 home runs. Adkison was chosen to represent the North Division at the Northwoods League All-Star Game Home-Run Derby.
