Edwin Ubiles

Edwin Ubiles (born November 22, 1986) Is an American college basketball player at Siena College. The versatile senior has played point guard, shooting guard, small forward and power forward at Siena. He is from Poughkeepsie, New York and played at St. Thomas More Prep before committing to Siena in September 2005. Ubiles chose Siena over major conference schools such as Iowa State and Seton Hall.
He helped lead Siena to back-to-back NCAA appearances for the first time in school history. Ubiles and the Saints have won an NCAA tournament game in each of the past two seasons a first in the MAAC. Entering his senior season Ubiles has 1480 points (8th all time in school history). Siena has a 70-31 overall record and is 10-3 in all MAAC and NCAA tournament games. He along with Ronald Moore, Alex Franklin and Cory Magee could go down as the winningest class in Siena basketball history.
Freshman Season
Ubiles averaged 11.8 points and four rebounds per game and was named co-rookie of the year in the MAAC. Ubiles had many spectacular games in his first season at Siena. In a 76-75 double overtime Siena win over UAlbany Ubiles scored 20 points on four of six shooting from three. Ubiles scored 23 points in just 22 minutes as Siena won at Niagara 92-81. In Siena's upset over top seed Marist 86-78 in the MAAC tournament semifinals Ubiles scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Sophomore Season
Prior to his second year at Siena College. Ubiles was a Preseason First Team All-MAAC selection. Ubiles led the Saints with 17 points per game and hauled down 4.4 rebounds per game. In an overtime loss to Loyola (MD) Ubiles scored a career-high 37 points. Scored in double figures in 33 of Siena's 34 games, including scoring 20 or more points eleven times. Grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in NCAA Tournament Second Round loss to Villanova. Ubiles averaged 25.4 ppg in the last five games of the regular season. Named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team, NABC District 2 Second Team, Postseason All-MAAC First Team, and Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major All-American.
Junior Season
Following his strong sophomore campaign, high expectations surrounded Ubiles' junior season. Selected to the Preseason All-MAAC first team for the second year in a row. Scored his 1,000th career point versus Oklahoma State. Ubiles hit a game tying layup with seven seconds left to force overtime in a win at Marist College and hit a game-winning jump shot with 4.2 seconds remaining to beat Iona at home and keep Siena's home game winning streak intact. Led team in scoring for second consecutive year with a 15 ppg average. Ubiles was in the top-10 in the MAAC in scoring (15 ppg), field goal percentage (.493), blocks (34), and minutes played (33.5/g). Ubiles reached double digit scoring 28 times, and led the team in scoring 12 different times including both NCAA tournament games. Averaged 22ppg in two NCAA Tournament games after recording 20 points against Ohio State and a season-high 24 points versus top-seeded Louisville. Was named to the postseason First Team All-MAAC and First Team All-District 1 NABC.
