Tony Mars

Anthony Matthew (Tony) Mars (born April 9, 1976) is an American entrepreneur. Educated at Harvard University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mars was named one of "50 People Worth Watching" in 2000 by Madison Magazine for his work founding and running Renisant Corporation and was designated a "Local Treasure" in Chicago's North Shore by MakeItBetter.net - which recently purchased the North Shore Magazine from The Sun Times. In November 2006 he launched - auditoriumA.com - a web based content discovery service and in January 2008 he followed up with Mindovo - a technology concierge service. In June 2009 Renisant Corporation was renamed Mindovo, Inc and auditoriumA.com is scheduled for relaunch as MindovoPassport.com.
Early life
Mars was born in Queens, New York, the only son of Deborah L. Mars, a business woman, homemaker, and nurse, and Anthony R. Mars, a physician specializing in internal medicine and anesthesiology. In 1986, Mars moved with his parents to Marinette, Wisconsin where his father became the town's first anesthesiologist. He attended Marinette High School from 1990-1994 where he was elected senior class president". Upon graduation Mars attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he studied history, political science, and philosophy. While at Madison he ran the university's Pre-Law Society for three years, hosted dignitaries including U.S. Senator Herb Kohl and U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, and was selected as the junior class representative for the UW-Madison Homecoming Court. He then attended graduate school at Harvard University where he continued his study of political philosophy.
Personal life
Mars met his wife Amanda in 1998 at a local Thai restaurant they both frequented. The two were later married there in a small ceremony attended by close family and friends. They have a son, Alexander Anthony and currently reside in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Mars is the founder of auditoriumA.com - a web based content discovery service that PC Magazine's App Scout referred to as "a guided tour of the web." Rafe Needleman, editor-in-chief of CNET's Webware, stated in his review that "auditoriumA is the anti-Digg … the stories are of high quality … I like the content on the site …." Profy.com - a technology website - also reviewed auditoriumA.com and said "The content on the site is exceptional and the presentation is beautiful ... This is a great site with tons of potential …." auditoriumA.com created a global buzz beyond the United States and was mentioned in KillerStartups.com, CNET Japan, France's PresseCitron, as well as a French blog. auditoriumA.com is scheduled for relaunch as MindovoPassport.com.
Mindovo
Mars founded Mindovo - a technology concierge firm headquartered in Chicago - on January 3, 2008. Mars has been cited as a technology expert by several leading blogs including 37Signals and MakeItBetter.net. Main stream media including the Winnetka Talk published by the Chicago Sun Times, and the North Shore Magazine have mentioned Mars related to both his business leadership of Mindovo and philanthropic efforts via the firm's community giving program.
Elected Office
Mars was elected in 2009 to a four year term as Trustee for the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District. The district serves the villages of Winnetka, Northfield, and Kenilworth, Illinois.
