Leandro Leviste

Leandro Antonio Leviste (born March 18, 1993) is a weekly columnist for the Philippine Star newspaper, an environmental youth activist for Luntiang Pilipinas and the son of prominent Filipino politicians. His articles are published in the Young Star section every Friday and are geared towards young readers interested in politics and current events. He is the son of current Philippine Senator Loren Legarda and former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste and has grown up in the public eye.
He has represented his mother in an official capacity, and has received national attention campaigning for his mother's vice-presidential bid in the 2010 Philippine presidential election representing the Nacionalista Party at political rallies and press conferences, appearing on evening news programs TV Patrol and 24 Oras. He had also been featured in a nationally televised campaign ad with his mother released during the height of the campaign in response to ads featuring the families of other national candidates. He has been referred to by DZMM TeleRadyo commentator Alvin Elchico as a political force in this election, and one to look out for in the future.
Leandro spearheaded the Luntiang Pilipinas Youth Movement, organizing campus tours at local universities and high schools consisting of presentations and documentary film screenings of "Buhos" ("Downpour" in Tagalog), as well as planting 25,000 trees as part of the organization's urban reforestation campaign. In 2003, Leandro was among those selected to appear in the Promil Philippines Gifted Children ad campaign. He attends the International School Manila.
