What is the Resurgence? The Resurgence is a reformed, complementarian, missional theological cooperative that trains church leaders in practical theology with emphases in cultural transformation, multi-generational impact, spiritual formation, and community lifestyle evangelism. A key theme in Resurgence teaching is reconciling the tension between reformed evangelical orthodoxy and culturally accessible methods in ministry. Resurgence leaders point to Jesus Christ as both the center of their theology and the supreme model for practice. The Resurgence Missional Theology Cooperative was founded by Mark Driscoll and includes Mike Anderson (Director) and Tim Smith, partners include Acts 29 Network and Mars Hill Church and is also associated with Desiring God (a ministry of John Piper), The Gospel Coalition (including Tim Keller and DA Carson), Crossway Books and The Hub. The Resurgence has 3 main branches: a publishing house - , a missional training centre - and a Music arm - , these in addition to a series of blogs by Mark Driscoll. Resurgence means to rise again, or to surge back into vibrancy. Their belief is that the gospel of Jesus Christ must resurge in every generation to meet the needs of people and their continually changing cultures. By Missional they mean that Jesus Christ is on a mission to seek and save people, change their lives, and transform their cultures. Because of this Resurgence believes that Christians, Christian organizations, and Christian churches exist to join Jesus on His mission by immersing themselves in whatever culture Jesus has placed them. Theology means that they believe that personal and cultural transformation is only possible by meeting the living Jesus Christ of the Bible through His gospel. Because of this they believe that culturally accessible mission also requires biblically faithful theology. Cooperative means that they believe a team of missional theologians working together as friends and peers, sharing ideas, and correcting errors is the best way for learning to occur. Because of this they are a network of various Christian leaders, ministries, churches, and networks seeking to work together in providing the most culturally effective and biblically faithful missional theology.
