Jon Ferguson

Jon Ferguson (born 19XX, Illinois) is one of the founders of Community Christian Church, a multisite church in the Chicago area. Launched in 1989 with his brother Dave Ferguson and three others, Community Christian Church currently is served by more than 600 leaders. More than 5,000 people attend at 11 church sites. Community Christian Church was recently listed in the “Top 50 Most Influential Churches” according to The Church Report.
Ferguson is also the author of two books, co-authored with his brother Dave Ferguson.
The first, also authored with Eric Bramlett, is The Big Idea: Focus the Message -- Multiply the Impact. The Big Idea was published by Zondervan in 2007. Of the book, Preaching magazine said, “One of the Best Preaching Books of 2007! The Big Idea offers an abundance of ideas on planning and developing a 'big idea' model in the local church. This book is packed with solid and helpful ideas, and the 'big idea' of the book is one that churches should carefully consider trying in their own setting.”
Jon and Dave Ferguson’s second book, Exponential: How You and Your Friends Can Start a Missional Church Movement will be released, also by Zondervan Publishers, in May 2010. One synopsis, offered by the publisher, says, “Jesus gives us a mission to change the world, and it can seem overwhelming at times. But the potential to complete the Jesus mission lies within each of us, as we learn to reproduce our faith as individuals and as reproducing churches.”
Ferguson plays a key role at Community Christian Church in identifying and developing small group leaders, coaches, and staff personnel. He serves as teaching pastor and leads and directs all Community ministries (small groups for children through adults). He is recognized as an expert in church planting, is also the cofounder and executive director of NewThing network, and serves on the boards of the Church Planting Network, the Institute for Community, and Stadia East.
