Theresa Grace Mbanefo (born February 15, 2000) is an American college basketball player at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
High school career
Mbanefo earned four varsity letters and served as team captain in both basketball as well as track and field at Blaine High School in Blaine, Minnesota. In track and field, Mbanefo broke record for the high jump competition. In basketball, Mbanefo was selected as an all conference pick in Northwest Suburban Conference during her sophomore and junior seasons. During the summer heading into her senior season, Mbanefo suffered a ACL tear during the Nike EYBL circuit. Due to injury, Mbanefo missed competition for her senior season.
On September 21st, 2017 during her senior year, Mbanefo committed to play NCAA Division I Women's basketball at Cornell University in the Ivy League conference.
College career
Mbanefo made her debut for Cornell University in the season opener against Binghamton University on November 9th, 2018. She went on to play in each of the Big Red's 26 games in the 2018-2019 season. Mbanefo ranked first on the Cornell team in blocks and fifth in the Ivy League in blocked shots per game. Mbanefo scored in double-digits three times, including an Ivy League Rookie of the Week performance on December 31st, 2018 for her 12-point, nine-rebound performance vs. Hampton University.
