The zambrano family history
Zambrano (variations include Zambrana among others) is a Spanish surname that has its origins in a family crest and coat of arms. Historically, the first mentions of this name are located in the city of Urbeda. Various families with this surname emigrated to Spanish America, inlcuding Alonso and Rodrigo in 1512 and Rodrigo with his 5 children in 1516.
There is a project called the "Zambrano DNA Project which aims to work out both the ancient origins of, and the current genetic relationships of, male Zambrano descendants.
