The Southside Six

The Southside Six is a running race held annually in the South-side of the city of Glasgow in Scotland. It is currently the longest running race held annually within Glasgow. It takes its name from the six parks which the route takes in. These include:
#
#
# Linn Park
# Rouken Glen
# Pollok Park
# Bellahouston Park
History
The inaugural race was held on Sunday 31st October 2010 and was run by 6 individuals. The race was run in just under 3 hours (which included several stops to take photos!)
The Route
The route starts and finishes near the flagpole in Queen's Park and covers approximately 26km or 16 miles. It is about 40% within the parks and 60% on roads and pavements between them.
The race is held under UK Athletics Rules with a permit from Scottish Athletics.
In the Press
The Southside Six has been mentioned in both the local press and the running press.
2011
On Tuesday 14th June 2011 the official race website was launched along with associated facebook page and twitter feed.
The 2011 Southside Six race will take place on Sunday October 30th and will follow the same route as the 2010 event. The race has expanded from being a small invitational field of six runners to an event which is open to the public to enter.
An initial cap of 200 entrants has been imposed.
