The Society of the Whitehall Masque

The Society of the Whitehall Masque was founded in 2009. It was a not for profit organisation for exploration of English Masque from the 17th century.
The strategy of the society was to grow each year in a steady and controlled way until it is able to mount something as close as practicable to an actual 17th century masque each year with world class artists and a suitably involved audience.
2010
In 2010 the society heard a extracts from Sir Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas of 1689 performed by Julia Gooding and Elizabeth Kenny. Julia Gooding, a soprano specialist in the Baroque, has regularly worked with the Academy of Ancient MusicAcademy of Ancient Music, the New London Consort Philip Pickett, the Gabrieli Consort Paul McCreesh and many of groups of importance. Elizabeth Kenny is Professor of Lute at the Royal Academy of Music, an expert of English Masque, and leading member of the The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Very every £8 spent on this event, 1 pound was raised for Forces Children's Trust.
