The peer-reviewed, academic journal Clinical Ophthalmology (published by Dove Medical Press) is the official journal of the SCO . The President of the SCO is [http://knol.google.com/k/scott-fraser/-/14hlkw3y2lklf/0# Prof. Scott Fraser]. Background At the core of the SCO is the goal of improving communications in Eye Care. The SCO aims to provide a coherent vehicle for the dissemination of developments and advances within these fields, and to offer a forum for debate and discussion. Eye Care is a dynamic area of modern medicine and there is a need to ensure that the progress and developments that shape the field on a daily basis are communicated in a timely, accurate and relevant manner. Ophthalmology is a well-established specialty and has traditionally been supported by a number of societies, but many of these concentrate on education / training of practitioners. The SCO's communications-centred approach sets it apart from the existing societies.
