The Short Film Awards

The Short Film Awards, also known as The SOFIE Awards, is an annual international awards ceremony honoring cinematic achievements in short film. Winners are awarded a SOFIE statuette, and all Nominees receive an Official Nominees Medal. The first SOFIE awards presentation was held at the Scholastic Auditorium on Broadway in New York City on December 13, 2014. The nominated films competed in19 short film categories.
FIlmmakers from around the world submit their best short films for SOFIE Award consideration. An official Review Committee of film professionals and experts are charged to view each film and choose five Nominees in each of the categories. Categories include Outstanding Technical Work, Outstanding Styling, Best Editing, Best Writing, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress and Actor, Best Actress and Actor, Best Long Short Film, Best Animated Short Film, Best Comedic Short, Best Dramatic Short, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, as well as Best Short Film from the Vault, honoring older short films, no longer eligible for most film festivals.
SOFIE Award winners include world renown journalist Matthew VanDyke, film editor Yannis Chalkiadakis, also editor of the film "Black Field" , film director Mitchell Rose, film director Mikhail Uchitelev for , South African actor Stelio Savante, filmmaker Cheryl Halpern, actor Mohamad Tamimi for and actor Chaske Spencer.
