The Race Legends

The Race Legends is a motor sport event that will run for the first time in Sweden 2011 at a Swedish racetrack. The Race Legends is conducted as a Formula One race of today with free practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
Over 30 Formula One drivers have been invited to the race where part of the income will go directly to SOS Children's Villages, funding at least 3 new family houses in the children's village of "Nhlangano" in Swaziland, Southern Africa.
Scandinavian Raceway (also known as Anderstorp Raceway) is the only track in Scandinavia with a Formula One history. During the 1970s it was host for the Swedish Grand Prix for six years.
SOS Children's Villages
The contest runs for the benefit of underprivileged children in the Third World through SOS Children's Villages. Charity is now unusual in motorsport in individual races and series, although many drivers are involved personally in the matter. The Race Legends will, after the event, fund the construction and operation of 3 new family houses in the village of Nhlangano in Swaziland.
Swaziland has the world's highest number of persons infected with HIV/AIDS and the world's lowest life expectancy of only 31 years.
Annika Ljungberg and Jens Sylsjö, former members of the popular Swedish band Rednex have produced the official The Race Legends song "For Children's Sake".

More than 30 former Formula One drivers have been invited. Among those the 2-time Formula One World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi.

Support classes and shows
Besides the Formula One legends 5 support classes will race. European Superkart series, Nordic GT, Monoposto Historic Racing, Drifting and a motorbike class. In the event village the visitors will be able to see various motor sport shows such as FMX stunt.
Race & cars
The competition is run in the Formula Renault 2.0 cars with a top speed of over 260 km/h. The race is conducted as a Formula One race of today with free practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
Rebuilding
To handle the expected 40000 visitors, around 32000 new grandstand seats have been built, in addition to the existing 8000, up along the runway. In addition, there will be a new FIA-compliant fence to be erected along the new section of stands.
