The London Session

The London Session is the upcoming ninth studio album by American progressive rock band Umphrey's McGee, The album was recorded in a single day at Studio 2 of Abbey Road Studios, in London.
Recording session
The plan for The London Sessions first came about before Umphrey's McGee were due to play some shows at London's Brooklyn Bowl in June 2014. Longtime producer Manny Sanchez had the idea of trying to record at the famous Abbey Road Studios during the band's brief London visit. Singer Brendan Bayliss has said of the difficulties involved in securing the studio time for 18 June that year: "Basically, you call in every favor you've been holding onto."
With only twelve hours available in their schedule while in London, the band hoped to capture four or five tracks for an EP. Having achieved that during the session, and with an hour and a half of studio time remaining, they recorded five more songs, some within a single take.
Final overdubs and vocal tracks were completed in studios in Chicago and Los Angeles. The album is set to be released on the band's label, Nothing Too Fancy Music, just ten months after their latest release, Similar Skin.
