The Festival of Sleep Day

The Festival of Sleep Day is a national day celebrated annually on the eve of January 3. It is unclear how this obscure holiday started or who is responsible for creating it, but the day provides a chance for people to catch up on their slumber. It is not yet a federal or well-known holiday in the U.S., but the Festival of Sleep Day is gaining more attention.
This day is observed after major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, all of which can be stressful times that can lead to lack of sleep. Rest is essential to a person’s overall health and well-being, and you can participate in this holiday by sleeping for a full eight hours or enjoying a power nap or catnap. It is one way to begin the New Year.
On this holiday, it is suggested to create a tranquil place for resting indoors or outdoors, and you can choose to sleep alone or with a companion like your significant other, pet or even stuffed animal. Some recommendations for lulling oneself to sleep include a rocking motion (i.e., rocking chair or hammock), nature sounds and comfortable clothing.
