The Devildolls Rock n Roll Street Gang
|
The Devildolls Rock N Roll Street Gang are an American and British punk rock band that evolved out of the ashes of Danny Frye & The Devildolls. In September 2001 Danny Frye & The Devildolls released their debut album Hellbent to epic reviews. Danny Frye died due to health problems in July 2003 and the band decided to call it a day. In late 2006/early 2007 some former members of the band along with Billy Nowhere decided to go back into the studio to begin a new project and work on the upcoming album Anthems of The Lost and Forgotten. The band is fronted by Billy Nowhere and has included former The Yo-Yo's / The Lurkers / Dogs D'Amour and current The Loyalties guitarist Tom Spencer, as well as bass player Drew Tomecko, drummer Joey Cypher, and fellow record producer Eddie Tomecko rounding out the bands lineup. In 2007 the band signed a deal with Not On Your Radio records. Recently the band has made some lineup changes, drummer Joey Cypher has moved to guitar, new lead guitarist Shane Vain will take over for Eddie Tomecko, Ryan Carruth has taken on bass duties, and new drummer Ben-Just-Ben completes the lineup. The bands sound reflects several elements of 1977 era UK punk rock, along with their own brand of low slung working class rock n' roll thrown in to create a very distinctive sound. It's also been noted by several in the press that the band shares many similarities to bands such as the Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, and Rancid. It has been recognized so much so that they've been highly supported by many of the original Clash inner circle members, including author and DJ , Rude Boy film actor Ray Gange, and Clash/Sex Pistols insider Mark Helfond. The group is also highly involved with Strummerville or otherwise known as The Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music. In mid 2007 the band did a remake of The Clash song "I'm So Bored with the USA" to benefit the Foundation. The single was released in conjunction with the bands label Not On Your Radio which is located in Southsea, UK. Currently the band is recording their full length album titled Anthems of The Lost and Forgotten slated for a late early winter 2009/10 release. They've already shot 2 videos for the record one for the single "Radio London"which was shot and directed by the bands guitarist Eddie Tomecko, as well as the song "Do Me No Right" which features The Clash Rude Boy film star Ray Gange, Suicide Girls model Bonnie Suicide, guitarist Tom Spencer, as well as Clash and Sex Pistols insider Mark Helfond. It was filmed by director Mark Allen in and around London, UK mostly on location in Camdentown, and Camden Market which was also considered the stomping grounds of The Clash as well as home to concert venues Dingwalls, Electric Circus and The Roundhouse, as well as former Clash, and Subway Sect practice spot Rehearsal Rehearsals which now houses a clothing store. Portobello Market was also used as a location for the shoot. The final edit has yet to be released, but there is a rough edit floating out on Youtube as well as on the bands myspace site. The bands album "Anthems of The Lost & Forgotten" is scheduled to be released March 1, 2010, and is made up of 14 tracks and has a total run time of 43 minutes. All of the bands recording is done at their studio Audioworks which is owned and opporated by the bands ex-guitarist Eddie Tomecko. Releases to date: 2007 I'm So Bored With The USA 7" single (Not On Your Radio) 2010 Anthems Of The Lost & Forgotten LP (Not On Your Radio)
