The Cam-Back

The Cam-Back was a 2010 college football game between the Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 75th Iron Bowl in which Cam Newton led Auburn to a comeback from down 24-0 to beat Alabama 28-27 for the largest comeback in Iron Bowl History.
The Cam-Back took place on November 26, 2010 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Auburn entered this game 11-0 in hopes of keeping its first undisputed National Title in School History alive and having already clinched a trip to the 2010 SEC Championship Game against South Carolina while Alabama entered this game 9-2 having gone undefeated at Bryant-Denny Stadium within the last three years.
Pre-Game Build Up
Auburn
Auburn, who was in the 2nd year of the Gene Chizik era, began the season ranked #22. After big home wins against South Carolina, Arkansas, and LSU, Auburn was ranked #3. Auburn would eventually be ranked #2 and would be ranked #2 for the 2010 Iron Bowl against Alabama.
Alabama
Alabama, the defending national champions was the preseason #1 on the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll. After losses to South Carolina and LSU on the road, Alabama dropped out of the top ten. A win over Mississippi State at home brought Alabama back in the top 10 in the AP Poll. Alabama would be ranked #9 in the AP Poll and #11 in the Coaches Poll and the BCS Poll for the 2010 Iron Bowl against Auburn.
Game Summary
1st Quarter
Alabama got started with a Mark Ingram Jr. 9-yd run to give Alabama an early 7-0 lead. Alabama's defense started hot by holding Auburn to a three-and-out. Alabama kept its hot stretch going with a Greg McElroy 68-yd pass to Julio Jones for a touchdown to give Alabama a 14-0 lead. Alabama's defense kept things going by forcing a three-and-out on Auburn. Greg McElroy and Trent Richardson kept things going with a Greg McElroy 12-yd pass to Darius Hanks for a touchdown to give Alabama a 21-0 lead. Alabama finished off the 1st Quarter by forcing another three-and-out on Auburn which gave Alabama a 21-0 lead after the 1st Quarter.
2nd Quarter
Auburn got things going defensively by forcing a fumble by Mark Ingram Jr. which was recovered by Demond Washington. Auburn was forced to punt on their next possession. Jeremy Shelley made a 20-yd Field Goal on Alabama's next possession to give the Tide a 24-0 lead. Cam Newton finally got things going with a 36-yd touchdown pass to Emory Blake which put Auburn on the board trailing 24-7. The momentum was now on Auburn's side when Nick Fairley sacked Greg McElroy and forced a fumble and recovered it. Alabama would enter the locker rooms with a 24-7 halftime lead.
3rd Quarter
Cam Newton got off to a hot start in the 2nd half with a 70-yd pass to Terrell Zachery for a touchdown to cut the Alabama lead to 24-14. After both teams were forced to punt on their next possession, Auburn forced a three-and-out on Alabama. Auburn kept the momentum going with a Cam Newton 1-yd touchdown run to cut the Alabama lead to 24-21. Alabama got something going when Jeremy Shelley made a 32-yd Field Goal to give Alabama a 27-21 lead. The 3rd Quarter would end with Alabama ahead 27-21.
4th Quarter
Cam Newton kept the Tigers going with a 7-yd pass to Philip Lutzenkirchen for a touchdown which gave Auburn a 28-27 lead. Both teams were forced to punt on their next possession while Greg McElroy got injured.. AJ McCarron replaced Greg McElroy for Alabama's final possession and AJ McCarron threw four incomplete passes and Auburn won the game 28-27 after trailing 24-0 in a comeback led by Cam Newton known as "The Camback."

Aftermath
With this victory, Auburn was now 12-0 and would earn the #1 spot in the BCS poll. Auburn would dominate South Carolina in the 2010 SEC Championship Game with Cam Newton's six touchdowns (4 passing, 2 rushing) to earn a spot in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Auburn Quarterback Cam Newton would win the 2010 Heisman Trophy. In the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, Wes Byrum kicked the game-winning field goal with no time remaining to beat Oregon 22-19 for Auburn's first undisputed national title in school history.
With this loss, Alabama suffered their 1st loss at Bryant-Denny Stadium since November 17, 2007 when they suffered a 21-14 home loss to Louisiana-Monroe Alabama would receive an invitation to the 2011 Capital One Bowl where Alabama would dominate Michigan State with a 49-7 victory. Alabama would finish the season ranked #11 in the Coaches Poll and #10 in the AP Poll.
