The Bent Trowel is a satirical archaeology periodical, slated to be released every quarter, month, or week. The periodical depends upon reader submissions to supply the content of the publication. History The Bent Trowel was founded in 2008 but it claims that its tradition has existed since the begin of organized archaeology. The Bent Trowel claims to be a public voice and forum to pithy quips and witty critique that were heretofore restricted to pubs and gatherings. Format The Bent Trowel is published electronically via .pdf. There are four sections of The Bent Trowel. Headlining Articles These articles report on current discoveries and hypothesis in archaeology. Opinion and Editorials This section contains letters to the editor, editorial pieces, and other opinion-driven submissions. They often comment on other archaeologists, findings, theoretical opinions, or presentations. Classified and Personal Advertisements Short advertisements of items or people. ==="The Back Page"=== As the name implies, the last page of The Bent Trowel, which has the archaeology-themed crossword puzzle, horoscope, and cartoon. Editorship The editors of The Bent Trowel are identified only by pseudonyms, which are spoofs on famous archaeologists from the twentieth century. See Also
