Ted Skuchas

Ted Skuchas is a basketball player for Vanderbilt University. He is a 6 foot-11 inch, 250 pound senior who plays center position. Skuchas is described as a "physical player in the post with good hands and nice touch around the basket." He was very good in high school, being "ranked among the nation's top 10 prep centers by numerous recruiting services, including PowerBasketball.com, espn.com and cnnsi.com." Skuchas was also instrumental in Vanderbilt's run to the Sweet 16 in the 2007 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, averaging 4.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in his team's three games.

Ted Skuchas's full name is Edward Alvah Skuchas. He was born on June 20, 1983 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents are Carla and Edward Skuchas, and he has a sister named Sarah. He played the bass guitar in high school.

High School Basketball Career
Ted Skuchas played high school basketball for Germantown Academy, and was a big part in the school's success during the four years he was there. He had an excellent career, achieving a school-record 1,016 career rebounds and averaging 10.8 boards per game for his career. He recorded 127 blocks as a senior, averaging more than four blocks per game. The Germantown Academy basketball team was ranked number 5 in the nation by USA Today during Skuchas's senior year. The Academy was ranked 17th in the nation his junior year, in which he averaged eight points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.7 blocks a game as a junior to help his school to a 27-3 record. He was a four-year starter, earning five varsity letters in basketball. He was team captain as a senior, and was coached in high school by Jim Fenerty.
