Contribution

Team White Hot contributes to the world to help many different people live a better life. One of the most notable projects is Folding@Home. The team is helping to find out how proteins fold, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes . In the Folding@Home Project Team White Hot has sent in more then 9908 Work Unit's to help protect many people from deadly diseases.

Team White Hot also contributes to Distributed.net which helps to find out about how to crack encryptions or what encryptions are most secure. Which is helpful to see how we can protect private data from hackers or any other people with malicious intent. Those are the two main projects that Team White Hot participates in, and also the two projects that have the most computing power thrown at them by the team.

Team White Hot is trying to make strides in other projects such as Majestic12 and eOn. In Majestic12 they are committed to excellence in trying to help diversify the search engine market by helping the majestic12 distributed search engine take on Google and crawl the web. With an average of 752,380 URLs daily they are starting to make a climb up the DC ladder. The teams hopes that within a couple months they will move into the top 25. In eOn Team White Hot has produced better numbers coming in the 16th spot with a chance to move into the top 15 over all in less then 3 days. Team White Hot has sent in an average of 37,447 work units a day to support the project and everything that it stands for.

Forums

Setup on Friday, September 14, 2007 the Team White Hot site/forums cover many different topics. Ranging from talking about the team members own experiences inside of each project, to personal items outside of the distributed computing world, the site has it all. The forums lists each DC project in alphabetical order, it also talks about the technology that users have/dream of/or old technology they used to own. The forums also have an off-topic section where users can post anything they want, under watch from the administrators.

The website is free to join by anyone who wishes to participate in the projects or just have fun with the team in the forums.
