History
In the early days of tamil forum writing , thatstamil.com site was most favored by internet users. The reason behind the preference is the writers were able to create new user logins with out the need of any email ids. Also thatstamil.com did not have any moderation. In Initial stage forum writer did not make any serious postings. The writings were mostly personal that resulted in fights. At the same time other forums like sysindia, yarl were very active. Most of the members agreed that the thatstamil.com is the most suited forum for posting articles due to the freedom it offered. The number of users may be around 30. They came from India, Europe, US, Australia .
First members used to write in english. Later members used the English to tamil type writing tool provided by jaffnalibrary.com

Due to complete absence of moderation writers started abusing each other, duplicate logins increased day by day. Some forum writers started posting obscene photos in the forum. The thatstamil.com management decided to de commisson the forum. The writers tried their best to stop the demise of thatstamil.com. Appeals were made to the members to post descent articles. But by november 2005 vulgar postings increased like anything. The thatstamil.com forum ceased to exist.
Till today the tamil forum world is in darkness about the people who posted obscene in the forum.
Till the end of 2005 AD thatstamil.com forum was a favorite site for many tamil writers.
Till 2007 AD appeals were made by the members to thatstamil.com site owners to restore thatstamil.com
To keep the forum culture alive two forum members of thatstamil.com started their own forum .
1. unarvukal.com- Details about the owner not available. He is supposed to be from Canada
2. karuththu.com- Started in 2006 by Canadian based Elam tamil immigrant
In the beginning unarvukal.com had the lead, but later karuththu.com pushed unarvukal.com to second position. Karuththu.com was later renamed as tamilnadutalk.com
After Dec 2008 unarvukal.com became a spiritual site. The site encouraged posting articles on various faiths. But it was de commisioned in 2009 AD.
From 2006 AD to 2009 AD tamilnadutalk.com remained a pro Dravidian. Users found it difficult to post anti Dravidian. Even neutral articles were moderated/deleted without reasons. Reputed forum members were banned. But the admin could not stop the banned writers coming with new logins. The main reason for development was the attitude of the forum admin. The forum admin thought the tamil culture means bashing Brahmins and being pro dravidian . The admin lacked maturity and never had any good knowledge about Indian society.
Some of the members started their own blogs but continued their postings in tamilnadutalk.com. The most successful blogger was Lucky Look. Today he is well known and recognized writer in the tamil forum world. He has become famous for his casual writing style.
The forum members and the forum owner become close friends. The owner flew down to india for his marriage in Vadapalani Murugan(God of Tamils) Temple in Madras, Tamil Nadu. Many forum members attended his marriage.
By the dawn of 2010 the forum took a new face.It became more liberal and allowed both pro and anti Dravidian article. The pro Dravidian writers frustrated by the sudden change in the forum policy boycotted the forum. A new forum called Alamaram became active. But the new forum could not match tamilnadutalk.com
The remaining few forum members of tamilnadutalk.com decided to keep the forum active. Each forum member increased the number of postings. As days rolled on the more articles appeared in the forum. The pro dravidian members started coming back and the forum is doing good now
The most important forum members are wakeupcall, arun, arunachalam, sankaran, aarangan, kimeera, varsha, asange, thennavan, clinton, harikaran, shorty, kiri, thevan, aagni, karikalan, leena roi.

Whenever elections came for parliament or Tamil Nadu Assembly the forum sees sudden raise in postings. The pro DMK members post articles predicting DMK victory. The forum does not have any pro ADMK members. Those who post against the DMK party are termed as pro ADMK group. When ever the pro DMK members feel cornered in arguments they start blaming all anti DMK members as Brahmins. This some times results in personal fights.
TN 2006 Assembly Elections : The forum saw heated postings between pro and anti DMK members.DMK wont the elections. The forum was dominated by pro DMK group.
Parliament May 2009 Elections : The forum saw heated postings between pro and anti DMK members. Unexpectedly DMK won and the forum slipped out of the pro DMK group as most of them were humilated by stand taken by DMK party on Eelam issue. Many Pro DMK stalwarts like seguvera, tamil kural, lenin , leena roi found it difficult to continue posting pro DMK messages. The dull period started in the forum from July 2009. Most of them left the forum
TN 2011 Assembly Elections:There was moderate arrangements about the elections. Some of the Pro DMK group came back in fake ids and argued for DMK victory. As DMK lost the elections, the pro DMK group stopped coming to the forum. They are expected to come once ADMK government starts doing mistakes.
