Tahir Shamshad (born July 23, 1958) is an Engineer born in Karachi, Pakistan and is currently the President and Managing Director of National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) since March 2013. He has over 35 years of experience in handling more than 200 projects controlled by NESPAK either independently or in association with various international consultants. He is also the member of Disaster Management and Reconstruction Division an organization dedicated to providing services in all aspects of pre-disaster preparedness as well as post disaster management and analyzing reconstruction scenarios. DM&RD specializes in safer development planning, geo-technical and seismic hazard studies, seismic resistant architectural and structural designing, GIS based Project Monitoring, Construction Management and fast, innovative and energy efficient construction technologies. Education At the age of 18 he was accepted into the NED University of Engineering and Technology in the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician. Shamshad at a seminar titled 10th Anniversary of 8 October 2005 Earthquake he said that unlike the UK, Pakistan is situated on a major fault line and that for this reason British construction codes are not suited for this country. “If these standards had been revised, our country would not have faced such large scale destruction and human casualties 10 years ago.” Shamshad was also appointed in 2008 as member Engineering after that he was assigned to Planning Commission as director-general/joint secretary in the Planning and Development Division. in 2011 he was assigned as Member Planning & Design in the Capital Development Authority.
