Tabith Mohammed Awal is a young entrepreneur, climate leader and an emerging politician from Bangladesh. He is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Multimode Group. He is also a leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party who is running as the mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation. Tabith Awal is the son of prominent politician and businessman Abdul Awal Mintoo who is a former President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Personal life Early life and education Tabith Awal was born on 20 February 1979 in Dhaka. He is the son of Abdul Awal Mintoo and Nasrin Fatima Awal. He is eldest among the three sons of Abdul Awal Mintoo. He studied in the American International School Dhaka and passed the 'O' Level and 'A' Level examinations from the school. Later he joined The George Washington University and attained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He completed his Masters of Science in Information System Technology from the same university. He has two brothers- Tafsir Awal and Tajwar Awal. Marriage Tabith Awal married Sawsan Eskander, who is the daughter of a Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd Md. Eskander Ali Khan in 2010. Tabith and Sawsan are the parents of a son. Career Tabith Awal joined the Multimode Group, a company which is now a diversified conglomerate with over 9,000 employees in fields ranging from consumer products, distribution, energy, cement, and seed products. He is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of Multimode Group. Under his active leadership that Multimode Group achieved a 100% increase in profitability over the past three years alone. He currently holds the position of Director in K & Q (BD) Limited, a sister concern of Multimode Group and other organisations associated with Multimode Group. Tabith Awal is also known as a footballer, having played to national level in Bangladesh. He is now a Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation, and also working as the Deputy Chairman of Marketing Committee in the Standing Committee of the federation. He is also interested in creating young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. He was a member of the delegation from Bangladesh Youth Leadership Centre that joined the First Commonwealth Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs Summit in 2012. Politics Tabith Awal joined Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the party where his father is a member of the Advisory Council. He came to light as a political leader when his father's nomination as the Mayoral candidate of Dhaka North City Corporation thrashed off by the Election Commission in 2015. He joined the race as a candidate for the Mayor post getting backed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party high command. He campaigned for the Dhaka City Corporation Election as a mayoral candidate under the banner of Adarsha Dhaka Andolon. In a highly controversial and rigged poll, Annisul Huq backed by Bangladesh Awami League defeated Tabith. Amid early boycott, Tabith Awal managed to get 325,080 votes within only four hours. Independent research bodies criticised the election fraud and termed it embarrassing. The Election Working Group in its official statement said, "The elections were marred by a significant level of electoral fraud and violence. Based on the extent of malpractice and irregularities observed, the EWG evaluates these elections to be not credible."
