Ian James Parsley, born 3 May 1977, is a businessman and Northern Ireland politician. He is currently serving as Deputy Mayor of North Down, having been elected to that position in June 2008. He is a member of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland, and was elected to North Down Borough Council in 2005 representing Holywood. He chairs the party's Councillors' Association, and is the party's economy spokesperson. He has taken lead responsibility for the party's media campaigning since August 2005. Educated at Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Parsley runs a PR business, and is also a commentator on road safety and linguistic issues. In February 2009, Parsley was selected to be the Alliance candidate for the Northern Ireland constituency in the June 2009 European Parliament election.
