Clive Watkinson

Clive Watkinson (born 20th April 1972) is most notable for his run as the Conservative Party candidate for United Kingdom Parliament from the Barnsley West & Penistone constituency in the 2005 general election.

Born in Barnsley, he is married with two young daughters.

He was educated at Cawthorne CofE Primary School and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield.

Clive serves on the Barnsley Chamber of Commerce council and is Chairman of the transport committee.

Following the 2005 general election, Clive was re-selected for the Conservative approved candidates list, and was interviewed for The Politics Show.

He was elected to the Conservative party South Yorkshire area executive in 2004 and was elected Deputy Chairman (Political) of the South Yorkshire Area in November 2006.

In September 2007 Clive was nominated by Barnsley Chamber of Commerce to represent the business community as a member of the Independant Remuneration Panel for Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Clive was elected to the Board of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Ltd in November 2007, and re-elected in February 2008.

In March 2008 he hit the headlines again after confronting a group of underage drinkers resulting in him being attacked. This was covered by BBC Look North and ITV Calendar.

He was elected to the Board of the Barnsley Development Agency in April 2008.
