System Administrators Guild of Ireland

The System Administrators Guild of Ireland or sysadmin.ie is a professional organisation for system administrators living and working in (or otherwise associated with) Ireland.
History
The System Administrators Guild of Ireland was created in 2001 as an informal group known as SAGE-IE which met on the second Tuesday of every month for talks and social events. On 26 April 2005 an incorporated company was registered (The System Administrators' Guild of Ireland Limited) and during 2006 a more formal framework was put in place whereby (on 4 October 2006) the moniker and domain sysadmin.ie was adopted registered and SAGE-IE deprecated. While membership was initially defined as subscribers of the 'members' mailing list, from 1 January 2007 onwards a formal membership structure was implemented and dues collected annually so as to allow the guild to better serve its members.
Activities
The guild runs a meeting on the second Tuesday of every month in Dublin, Ireland during which technical presentations are usually delivered followed by social outing to a nearby venue. It also maintains the sysadmin.ie community including members mailing list(s).
Affiliations
The guild maintains affiliations with a number of international organisations who share similar goals:
* League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA Local Affiliate)
* SAGE (International Group)
* SAGE-AU
