Sukhminder Virk

Sukhminder Singh Virk is a Canadian lawyer who is running for MLA in the Surrey-Newton electoral riding riding of British Columbia, Canada. Sukhminder is a member of the British Columbia Liberal Party and the 2013 election will be his first.
Early Life & Education
Sukhminder was born in Sparwood, BC to Manjit and Jaswinder Virk. In 1992 Sukhminder and his family moved to Surrey. He graduated from North Surrey Secondary School, and then attended Simon Fraser University from 2002-2006 studying Political Science. While at SFU Sukhminder was a member of the SFU Young Liberals, and served as president of a student society. Upon graduation Sukhminder studied law at Kingston University graduating in 2009 with honours. Sukhminder has also served as director of the Surrey gurdwara's youth slate.
Career
Upon graduation Sukhminder articled in Surrey and was subsequently called to the BC bar in 2011. He currently practices law in Surrey and specializes in trusts, estates, and corporate law.
Politics
2013 Provincial Election
In the 2013 provincial election Sukhminder Virk will be running against incumbent NDP MLA Harry Bains. Harry Bains is seeking a third term in the Surrey-Newton riding which has been a NDP stronghold in past elections. Also running is Satinder Singh for the BC Conservatives.
Personal life
Sukhminder currently resides in Surrey, BC with his wife Rita. They are both active in the community.
