Steve Azzara

Steve Azzara is an American celebrity, portrait, and fashion photographer. Born and raised in New York City, he launched his career at the age of 17 when he did some of the photography for the 1973 Sing It Again Rod album cover for Rod Stewart and progressed to shooting for music magazines. His photo subjects were diverse from heavy metal bands to gospel performers and included touring with Sly and The Family Stone. He continues to live and work in New York photographing fashion, portraiture, architecture, and interior art. Azzara has worked with Tony Bennett, Toni Braxton, Kris Kristofferson, and Stevie Wonder in his studio.

In early 2007 he was named Director of Photography for Supermodels Unlimited magazine and photographed four covers for the magazine that year as well as the January 2008 double cover which features Miss Teen USA 2007, Hilary Cruz. Other magazine covers in 2007 include Tiki Barber, Andrea Roth of Rescue Me, Amber Lee Ettinger of "Obama Girl" fame, Laura Bell Bundy who appears on Broadway in Legally Blonde, Katrina Bowden of "30 Rock", and Amy Fisher for ' magazine . Two of Azzara's images were submitted for auction to benefit the New York Academy of Art. The images are a nude and his portrait of the Dalai Lama. Azzara’s also collaborated , as a nude photographer, with young author Marvelyn Brown and her work “The Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful and (HIV) Postive “ published by HarperCollins. Azzara’s lovely nude portrait of Marvelyn is used as the cover for the book. The book is discribe as “ The surprisingly hopeful story of how a straight, no promiscuous, everyday girl contracted HIV and how she manages to stay upbeat, inspired, and more positive about life than ever before - HarperCollins”. Her book and message has struck a major cord with young people across the US and world.
