VAR Magazine

VAR is an American magazine that focuses on fashion photography, traditional art, celebrities, and editorials.
History
VAR was founded in June of 2011 by editor-in-chief Daniel Michel. Having neither experience nor funding, but an appreciation for photography and art, Michel decided to create a publication for those who also appreciate art and the artistic aspect of fashion photography.
The debut issue of VAR became available for online purchase on May 17, 2012. Issue #1 was a double cover. The front cover featured actress/model Olga Maliouk as photographed by Miko Lim. The back cover featured musician Dave Navarro and model Bernadette Macias as photographed by Debbi Rotkowitz. Other models and celebrities featured in the issue are Bai Ling (actress), Davey Havok (American rock band AFI), Jenny Mollen (actress/author), Miles Devin (model), Ellen Stagg (photographer) and Taylor Tilden (adult film).
Launch event
VAR had a launch event on April 15, 2012 at the Wooster Street Social Club. The event was hosted by Juliya Chernetsky and was DJ'ed by BlackBook Magazine writer Steve Lewis, who wrote an article on the event in BlackBook Magazine the following day.
