Steamy Raimon

Steamy Raimon is a widely-published freelance cartoonist, artist, and writer. This Brooklyn, New York native was born Lawrence Raimonda on January 15, 1954. He is a US Navy veteran, who successfully held careers as a management analyst, creative director, and art sales representative, among others. He now owns and operates webstores showcasing his work at www.cafepress.com/SurfShack, and www.zazzle.com/SteamyR,a body of cartoons licensed with www.cartoonstock.com, writes, accepts commissions and design assignments, and currently exhibits his fine art at Nashville, Tennessee galleries. He has written short stories, humor quizzes, and screenplays.
Steamy was first published in 1976 by Saturday Review, then, soon after became a regular in Easyriders, Biker, Dragon and other magazines. He holds the distinctions of creating the original “biker chicks” cartoon (published in Hustler Humor July 1998; told by Cartoon Editor, Dwaine Tinsley to be Larry Flynt’s favorite cartoon of all time), and another, the only full-page color cartoon in Hustler’s Holiday issue (July 1998). Steamy also broke the single-panel-cartoon-only barrier at Writer’s Digest twice by having multiple-panel cartoons published in the February 1981 and July 1982 issues. His comic strip, Red Light-Green Light (Taxi and Limo Drivers’ Guide), and his single-panel feature, Smiles For Miles (Tripsheet) were the only regularly-published cartoons in the world on the transportation industry’s limousine and taxicab services. Another cartoon feature of his that ran for a short while in the pages of New Witch magazine was The Pagan Pit. He now simply signs SR but previously used the signatures: Raimonda, RAY, LRR, Raimon, Steamy Raimon, and Steamy. Besides being published in many mainstream and men’s magazines, his work has appeared in ads, in books (including National Lampoon’s Favorite Cartoons of the 21st Century (http://www.amazon.com/National-Lampoon-Favorite-Cartoons-Century/dp/0977871819/refpd_sim_b_3), and Not Fit For Print (http://www.amazon.com/National-Lampoon-Not-Fit-Print/dp/0977871835/refpd_sim_b_4); as well as the tribute book to Woody Guthrie, This Toon Is Your Toon http://rodmckie.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html), on websites, and on merchandise.
