St. Hilary Elementary School

St. Hilary Elementary school opened in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada in September 1992 as part of the Dufferin-Peel Roman Catholic Separate School Board (now the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board). Its official Blessing was on May 16, 1993 and was celebrated by Father Terence F. D'Souza, Principal Gerri Allen, Mayor Hazel McCallion and all staff, and students, as well as the families in the community. The school was designed by Moffet & Duncan Architects Inc.
Graduates of St. Hilary go on to St. Francis Xavier Secondary School.
History
During the School Blessing in May 1993, a time capsule was placed in the foyer of the school to be opened on the school's tenth anniversary. The location is on the wall directly opposite of the office. After being opened in a grand ceremony on the 10th anniversary, the Time Capsule was once again placed in the wall of the foyer to be opened on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the school.
Since the time of its opening, the school was the home to many students - including those being housed until St. Jude, St. Gertrude, and San Lorenzo Ruiz schools were built. Many remember the portables placed in the school's field for many years - also known as "portable city".
In the spring of 2001, a new addition was opened to staff and students in the area of the original port-a-pak. This addition stretches around the rear of the building.
