Larry Spears is a 7th degree Taekwondo black belt in the Lemon Grove/San Diego, California area. Spears was born and raised in Houston, Texas and spent over twenty five years serving America in the United States Marine Corps. Spears was eventually stationed in San Diego and was an active drill instructor. He then opened Spears Taekwondo Academy (also known as Spears Academy of Martial Arts), a Taekwondo school which was located in the inner city of San Diego working with troubled youth. In 2010 he closed his original school location and moved to the Lemon Grove area. He incorporates a philosophy of teaching his students discipline, confidence, and moral responsibility.
