Southern Flame is a southern metal/rock band originating in Monroe County, West Virginia.
Biography All four original members were long-time friends and often held jam sessions together for fun. It wasn't until March, 2005 that they began to take their playing seriously and formed a band. Southern Flame began to book shows, including the renowned Moxie Cafe, in their hometown. The group gathered a modest following in the area and decided to record, produce, and distribute their first album Alcoholocaust on their own the same year. The album produced positive reviews around the area and online.
Due to a lucrative opportunity to join the horror punk band Blitzkid, Andrew "Stripes" Winter quit the band. He is now known by the moniker "Jesco Devilanse" and is a part of , of The Misfits, new project Gorgeous Frankenstein. He was replaced in June, 2006 by Beckley, West Virginia native, Tommy Bailey. The album Whiskey Metal was released in late 2007 and included nine new tracks, one remastered track from Alcoholocaust, and the entire previous album. With the addition of Bailey, the band took on a new, slightly more sludge metal, sound. The change in style proved to attract more attention from listeners worldwide, and the band's fan base expanded drastically. The band began to receive opportunities to play outside of the immediate area, and has been on the same bill as other bands such as Byzantine, Blitzkid, , and .
Southern Flame is currently writing and recording new tracks for an upcoming studio album and are continuing to tour throughout the region. The album Whiskey Metal is currently available on iTunes, Napster, and eMusic.
