Socialphy

Socialphy.com is a social discovery website that allows users to create, explore and receive recognition for what they share online. Users give and receive points for content. The points rate the most popular content according to what is most celebrated on the site. Socialphy was launched in October 2011 and is based on the idea of “Collective Intelligence”..
Posts
One of Socialphy’s main components is the Posts. A post can be about many different things. Users can create a post with colorful text, images, gifs, videos, and/or links. A post can be created by clicking the top of the page that says "Add Post." If the user is a sports fan, they might post a biography of a favorite player, along with photos and videos to make the post more exciting to the reader. If the user likes traveling, they might consider sharing some personalized reviews and experiences in the Travel & Leisure section . Within the post section of the website there is a variety of topics from art to travel, to news to computers. Users can find and share information about many different subjects.
If a user creates a great post, they could be featured as a top post or a top user, which will attract even more people to their posts. This is achieved this by accruing points on the post, being marked as a favorite, being recommended by many users, and having a lot of people follow a post.
My Socialphy
My Socialphy is similar to Google’s +1 or Facebook’s ‘like’ functionality. It allows users to “re-shout” and comment on shared images, videos and links that appear on their My Socialphy feed. It’s also the place where users will find all notifications from the people, posts, communities, and topics users follow. Here users stay up to date on all the activity happening on the site.
Communities
Communities are the space to interact and discourse with other users. There are many different categories within Communities. For example, a person who is interested in photography might start a community where other photographers can share their work, get feedback, discuss cameras and other equipment, share Photoshop tips, etc. By creating a Community, a user becomes the owner and the moderator of that Community. They can invite users to join and decide what the protocol is within the community, but it must always be within the confines of the Socialphy protocol. There are certain topics that are better suited for the Communities section of the page than the Posts section. For example, Posts cannot ask questions about something or start a debate. This kind of content belongs in the Communities section of the website.
Within each community, the users can create “Topics” and the other members of the community can respond to the topics. Topics are different than posts in relation to their content, as mentioned above. They are also different in that they cannot receive points or be featured as a TOP. However, they can be marked as a favorite and recommended. Topics are ranked with a simple +1 (thumbs up) or -1 (thumbs down).
Top Content
Tops are an important part of Socialphy because it’s where the most popular content is found on the website. Tops can be filtered by category and/or by time period (all time, today, yesterday, last 7 days, month, last month, year).
