SkyscraperCity is a forum-based website primarily focused on the construction and discussion of skyscrapers and Urbanity. It is powered by vbulletin, a forum package created by Jelsoft Enterprises. Some of the website's features include a weekly urban photo contest, various polls and lists of the world's top ranking skylines. SkyscraperCity's slogan is In Urbanity We Trust. The site's main administrator is Netherlands user Jan, who founded the website and is user #1.
Skyline Ranking
The ranking of world city skylines in the SkyscraperCity forum could be considered the most accurate ranking of what people think are the world's best city skylines. In criticism of skyline rankings by organizations or individuals, the SkyscraperCity ranking does not reflect the opinion of an individual or a certain group of people. In criticism of the general public's opinion, the SkyscraperCity ranking was voted by that fora's users, who take a particular interest in not only architecture and skyscrapers, but the infrastructure and overall beauty of a city, whereas the general public, for the large part, are not as concerned with this art. In criticism of the users of SkyscraperCity's opinion, a small number of users tend to vote prejudicially, where they would favor their own cities.
