Simulmedia

Simulmedia is a marketing technology company aiming to help advertisers drive business outcomes through linear TV. Simulmedia attempts to take advantage of the fragmentation of television by bringing Web-like data targeting and digital addressability to television. The company's proprietary technology platform, VAMOS, gathers anonymous data from millions of set-top boxes and combines that with its own algorithms based on purchase behaviors to optimize media. VAMOS serves more than 6 billion weekly impressions reaching 95 percent of U.S. TV households.
Financing
Simulmedia has raised $58.25 million in 4 rounds of funding. This includes an $8 million Series B round led by Time Warner Investments that was announced in April of 2012, as well as a $25 million round led by Valiant Capital and R&R Ventures in December 2013. Simulmedia's investors include Avalon Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Time Warner Investments, and Valiant Capital Partners.
Company History
The New York City-based startup was founded by ad veteran Dave Morgan, who had previously had success with Tacoda, which was sold to AOL in 2007, and Real Media. In March of 2014, Simulmedia answered skeptics who wonder if targeting audiences through linear TV works by guaranteeing that a client's campaign with Simulmedia will deliver better business results than that of the advertiser's existing TV ad efforts. In May of 2014, Simulmedia expanded to the West Coast with the opening of their San Francisco office. In September of 2014, Simulmedia launched their first PeopleFront, which is an audience-centric spin on the traditional upfronts. It brought together executives from Campbell's Soup Company, Nielsen, Discovery, Turner, and Kimberly Clark to discuss the future of people-based, data-driven TV advertising.
Company Initiatives
In June of 2015, Simulmedia released an online application, INSIGHTS, that allows marketers to see and interact with in-depth analytics about their marketing campaigns. In its first version, INSIGHTS was used for clients in the tune-in space, where Simulmedia shows who tuned into a program after being exposed to a promo for that episode. In March of 2016, Simulmedia announced a partnership with Facebook where they are working together to develop a privacy-safe, de-identified way of matching Simulmedia's single source of TV viewing data and purchase data with Facebook's advertising campaign delivery data to better understand cross-channel ad delivery metrics and, eventually, business impact.
