Shine on Jamaica

"Shine on Jamaica" written by Cherine is a thought provoking and heartfelt gem. The song and video, which is directed by Cherine Anderson, are truly inspiring. "Shine on Jamaica" is one of the leading tracks from her cd "The Introduction-Dubstyle EP," and has entered multiple charts in the US and Europe. The song spent 4 weeks at #1 on both the New York and South Florida reggae charts. This is one of the Cherine's many partnerships with longtime friends and collaborators Sly & Robbie and David Norland.
In an interview on Jamaican tv Cherine said "I wanted to capture the resilience of Jamaicans. I wanted to celebrate our successes but at the same time talk about some of the challenges that frustrate us all including me as a young Jamaican." Cherine added in a blog on her facebook that "Everyone in Jamaica is concerned about crime, unemployment, rise in gas and food prices and the lack of opportunity, but at the end of the day we all need encouragement and support. I hope "Shine On Jamaica" will be that song that encourages and helps us all from children to adults focus and always reach for greater things."
