Shiftos

ShiftOS is a game where the player needs to evolve an experimental OS into a fully working virtual operating system. This is achieved by earning codepoints.
Game history
Throughout the history of ShiftOS - the game has undergone many re-writes.
ShiftOS started off as a game made by Phillip Adams, a youtuber going by the name of OSFirstTimer, he developed the game in 2013 in his spare time. In late 2014, he announced that he could no longer work on the game due to the fact he has not enough spare time to work on the game itself. He then handed the game down to 'community developers'. As the game developed through the new developers (rhobarii, NarodGaming, william.1008 (LEAD), pfg) the game development came to an abrupt halt as the developers wanted a change. They did not want the game to be written in VB.NET, and wanted it rewritten for compatibility. During this time - william.1008 was replaced by Michael. The game was then open-sourced after a code leak by an internal developer. This ended up being the deathbed for the original ShiftOS.
The new lead developer didn't want the came to die however - so he came out with a new game, reusing most of the old code with slight changes, dubbed ShiftOS-Next, he released it to the public, but quickly abandoned the project.
He then started up a new game, restarting from scratch, this one was dubbed ShiftOS-C#, which was rewritten from the ground up in C#, however - this too was abandoned in mid-early 2016.
Then - a the current moment, he has restarted AGAIN. This time, coming out with a game dubbed as ShiftOS_Revamp internally, but otherwise known as just ShiftOS to the general public. This is written in C#, and was established in Late October 2016.
Development
The development of ShiftOS has been a rough one. It has gone through multiple development (groups) and has been completely rewritten twice over.
In 2013, Phillip Adams running a YouTube channel called OSFirstTimer begun developing ShiftOS in his spare time in a programming language called VB.NET. In the early days, he created it for free, when he had spare time. He quickly produced new versions, until giving it to a new development team in late 2014, as he stated that he was "moving to a new job" and "did not have enough time to continue development on his own". He begun a developer competition, where aspiring ShiftOS developers had to go through to become a ShiftOS developer, this was in place for the first few developers - but quickly scrapped due to the amount of developers on the team. This team moved on to create a few more versions of ShiftOS - before deprecating it as the community asked for a rewrited ShiftOS.
Fast-forwarding to October 2016, the previous lead developer, Michael VanOverbeek, has resurrected the game - using the same name and website, to create a new version of ShiftOS. There are currently 3 developers on the team (Narod, Michael, and one more).
How to play
As of early November 2016, there are currently no playable versions of ShiftOS to the general public. Previous versions cannot be found on the internet.
