Shahab Zuberi

Shahab Zuberi (born 25 December 1958 in Karachi) is the Chief Operating Officer of Aaj News and Play TV based in Karachi, Pakistan. He has previously been associated with NTM - Network Television Marketing, Interflow Group, Satchi & Satchi and Roland PLC Switzerland.
Education and Training
After completing his education at some of Pakistan's oldest educational institutions such as the 150 year old St. Bonaventure School in Hyderabad, FC College and Govt. College Lahore, Shahab acquired his professional training from veteran's of the Pakistani advertising industry such as Omar Qureshi and Tahir A. Khan.
Advertising
Shahab was associated with the advertising industry for over 10 years rose through the ranks to the top of Interflow Group, which was at that time the biggest advertising industry in Pakistan. Managing accounts such as Unilever, Nestle, PIA and many more, Shahab helped to improve the bottom line for all his clients.
Public Relations
Shahab Zuberi also managed the Public Relations for two Prime Ministers of Pakistan, one of them was Mian Nawaz Sharif, as well as the international image building campaign of the Government of Pakistan. In this capacity Shahab collaborated with internationally renowned advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi and Roland PLC Switzerland.
Media
From his advertising foundation, Shahab moved to the first private sector television channel of Pakistan, NTM - Network Television Marketing, as its Regional Director for North. He along with his team made NTM a commercial success.
Under the umbrella of the Interflow Group, he launched several successful business ventures such as BMN Media, BMN Records and FM Marketing.
Aaj News
When the media laws were relaxed in early 2000s, Shahab conceived and launched Aaj TV (now Aaj News), the first private satellite channel to broadcast from within Pakistan. Aaj News is part of Recorder Television Network, a subsidiary of The Business Recorder Group.
As the Team Leader, Shahab was personally involved in almost every facet of the channel’s operations. The extensive planning and The Business Recorder Group's 40 year of experience in news gathering made Aaj News one of the most successful television channels in Pakistan.
Play TV
After the success of Aaj News, Shahab helped to launch Play TV, a youth and music channel that was hailed by the biggest newspaper in Pakistan to be “taking the youth world by storm”. The ratings proved the claim by Daily Dawn, as Play TV is one of the highest rated channels in its category in the Pakistani television industry.
Personal life
Shahab collects antiques and fine art. His interest in Urdu literature is supported by his wife Nasira Zuberi who is an accomplished poet, economist, journalist and anchor person. Out of their 3 children, their firstborn son is currently pursuing a business degree in London, UK, while the two daughters are finishing their A and O levels in Karachi, Pakistan.
Future plans
Currently Shahab Zuberi is the Chief Operating Officer at Recorder Television Network and is heavily involved in a joint collaboration of 5 countries under the banner of TV South Asia.
