Sergio Cerruti

Sergio Cerruti (April, 12 th 1975) is a Producer , DJ and owner of the indie label Just Entertainment.

Sergio Cerruti’s talent emerged at the early age of 14, and it was not long before he started to be known as the Man in Black because of his taste for a black image and aura. Thanks to the time spent experimenting in garage sessions, which was followed by his first parties and events, Sergio soon became a landmark in Rome’s nightlife.
His name has been featured on thousands of leaflets and flyers, and his 'let's party!' style, capable of turning a simple DJ set into a full-blown show, quickly became his trademark.
In time he started to exploit his talent and has become the well established and recognised DJ he is today.
At the age of 19 Sergio Cerruti set up Tools, his first indie record label, and started to work as a record producer while also cooperating with the Rome branch of Radio Company in the twin role of DJ and music programmer.
After working with the north Italian radio station he moved on and began working as a freelance consultant for major record companies and other nationwide radio stations.
In 1998 his passion for technology paid off and he became one of the most appreciated consultants in the IT music production sector using workstations made by Protools, a well known division of the Avid group.
This latter experience soon brought him into contact with many artists, both Italian and international, and also allowed him to make his way into the world of TV and cinema production. In the music business he has worked with names such as Bluvertigo, Giorgia, Max Gazzè and Pino Daniele, and in post-production he worked for TV series such as “Distretto di Polizia”, “Grande Fratello”, “Operazione Trionfo” and “Un Medico in famiglia”.
The results and recognition Sergio gained during this period drove him, in 2001, to hold a post-graduate course as teacher in Rome's prestigious National School of Cinema (Scuola Nazionale di Cinema).
In 2003 he set up Just Entertainment, his second record label and arts laboratory, a place where as a producer Sergio played around with and blended various music genres in the search for something new and unique to offer to the indie music market.
After an initial period dedicated exclusively to Dance music, in 2005 Just Entertainment widened its scope to include R&B and Pop music as well.
2005 was also the year when Sergio Cerruti gained widespread recognition both in Italy, where a compilation by his DJ friend and partner Claudio Coccoluto topped the sales charts for 4 weeks, and abroad, where the Just Entertainment label was nominated in the Miami WMC for “Du what u du", a 2004 production in cooperation with Yoshimoto and DJ Andy Caldwell.
This record would later become the best selling dance single in Italy as well as a hit song all over Europe.
The following year brought more recognition, when Sergio Cerruti's A&R and production work with "The Creeps" (Camille Jones vs Fedde Le Grand) made it to No. 1 in the Dance charts for more than 6 weeks, and also climbed up to sixth place in the Pop charts, where it stayed in the Top 20 for over a month. Sergio had produced another gold record with more than 100,000 copies sold.
On a rather different note, and among his more irreverent productions, a special mention must be spared for Sexy, a compilation of songs that were censored in the early 1980s which he personally conceived, selected and mixed before deciding to bring in the image of Rocco Siffredi for product endorsement. The compilation turned out to be a major media and sales success.
In 2009 he broke new ground by stepping into the publishing world where, with the help of Federico Moccia and Rizzoli/RCS, he produced a version of the Italian best seller named "Scusa Ma Ti Chiamo Amore" in a new format named PlayStory which he created and copyrighted.
Over the years Sergio Cerruti has come a long way, lending a personal touch to trends and styles and creating an aura of charm and appeal around his name, so much so that in 2010 Range Rover sought him out as Brand Ambassador for the launch of its new "Evoque" along with other international celebrities.
Since January 2011 Sergio has been working on-air with Radio 105 as a regular guest behind the console of the long standing ‘InDaKlubb’ show created by DJ Andrea Belli and Flavio De Luca and dedicated to club music.
Producing allows Sergio to experiment in his style, which is personal, simple and universal all at once. There is no doubt that his secret lies in his passion, a powerful driving force that constantly steers him to meet new challenges and seek out new goals. Playful and disrespectful, ironic and biting, eclectic and egocentric, Sergio never fails to make his way into the minds of his fans by exploiting various styles, which he re-interprets and moulds into a new and unique musical and aural experience...
