SecureWorks develops technologies to enable its services but is not a product company or reseller. The first such technology developed by SecureWorks was the iSensor, a network intrusion prevention device that allows for rapid countermeasure deployment and updates across all clients in short periods of time. SecureWorks continued to expand its technology and services portfolio to include host intrusion prevention (host ips), Vulnerability assessment, email filtering and email encryption.
Mergers and Acquisitions
In 2006, SecureWorks merged with LURHQ Corporation. The combined companies continue under the SecureWorks corporate name. LURHQ was founded in 1996 in Myrtle Beach, SC and provided managed security services to large enterprises. Company cultures and leadership were similar prior to merging and the merger has exceeded expectations for synergy and financial results. See Gartner Article
SecureWorks is investing to unify clients onto a single integrated security management platform, Sherlock, developed by LURHQ. Sherlock evaluates billions of events daily to find those that require attention by security analysts who are on staff 24x7x365. Sherlock provides log monitoring, trending, ticketing and workflow management needed to evaluate, escalate and resolve security incidents (computer security incident management).
