History
nCircle Network Security is an IT security and Compliance company that was founded and incorporated in 1999, by John Flowers. nCircle’s predecessor was Hiverworld, a for-hire penetration testing organization. Hiverworld was originally based in an office on University Avenue in Berkeley California. In Spring of 2001, after a move to Emeryville, California the company name was changed to nCircle Network Security. nCircle’s headquarters are now based in San Francisco, California.
In 2002 Abe Kleinfeld took over as CEO of nCircle, and in 2001 Tim Keanini came on board as Chief Technology Officer. nCircle now has offices in multiple cities across the United States and internationally.
In early 2004, nCircle expanded its operations with an office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Toronto office is the primary centre for nCircle’s Vulnerability and Exposure Research Team (VERT), which functions as nCircle’s Security R&D division. VERT is comprised of security research specialists and is led by Sheldon Malm.
nCircle acquired Cambia Security in May 2007 adding a configuration compliance product to its line as well as gaining a team of security professionals lead by David Meltzer, based in Alpharetta, Georgia.
