Scott D. Whiting

Scott Duane Whiting (born April 1961) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2012. He is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
Whiting was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young man, he served as a full-time church missionary in the Japan Tokyo North Mission. After his mission, he completed a bachelor's degree in Japanese at Brigham Young University and a juris doctorate from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.
Whiting moved to Kailua, Hawaii and became the vice president and in-house counsel for Molokai Ranch; in 2001, he became the president and CEO.
In the LDS Church, Whiting has served as a bishop, stake president, and area seventy. He became a general authority and a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy at the LDS Church's spring 2012 general conference. As a general authority, he has served as a counselor in the presidency of the Asia North Area and has been the area's president since August 2015.
Whiting married Jeri Lin Olson in April 1984 and they are the parents of five children.
