Scampenstein is an animated feature production project based on a script by Birmingham, UK based screenwriter Brendan O'Neill. It is intended to be the first ever internet community funded (and part generated) animated feature film.
Plot Synopsis
Doctor Frankenstein’s great grandson Victor has set up a secret lab in the disused Battersea Power Station in London, England. He wants to utilize the electrical switch gear in order to create a super obedient re-animated dog monster with a genetically modified brain. This dog will lead an army of Zombie cats to spread a fatal virus around London and therefore the rest of the world. The object is to destroy civilization and thus reduce global warming. This is to prevent further melting of the antarctic ice which he believes contain the frozen bane of the House of Frankenstein - the original re-animated man monster. He believes that if the ice melts the monster will rise up and seek him out to destroy him in revenge for his Great Grandfather having destroyed the monster’s bride.
Victor’s henchman have been sent out to provide specimens with which to create the Monster dog. Scamp and Rocky are twins pups. Scamp is dog napped and taken to the secret lab. Rocky tries to find and save him but gets taken to the Battersea Dogs Home.
As he arrives at the dogs home there is a break out led by Red who is scheduled to be destroyed. Rocky breaks free as well and hooks up with Red and his group. They want to escape to the country but when they hear Rocky’s story they agree to look for Scamp. They also hope that another dog Fang who has been taken from the dogs home by Victor’s henchman earlier can be saved as well.
The rest of the story involves the fugitives overcoming various trials and obstacles in the search for the secret lab. There is also a love story sub-plot involving two dog owning humans who meet each other as the story unfolds - Jake a motorcycle courier and Kirsty - the owner of a broad beam Dutch barge.
Eventually they find Scamp but his brain has already been planted into the body of the badly abused and vicious Fang. The denouement comes when Scamp is ordered by Victor to kill Rocky, Red and the others. He doesn’t because the bond of love between him and his twin overcomes the genetic modifications to his brain. Victor then locks them in the burning building.
Things look very grim until suddenly the animals are rescued from the burning building by the real original man monster. The monster saves them and at the same time sinks the launch that Victor is attempting to escape in by throwing a heavy lump of metal which holes the boat and causes it to sink. Victor appears to drown in the river.
The man monster then asks Scamp if he will accompany him back to the antarctic as he needs a companion. Scamp agrees. Red and the others move to the country with Jake and Kirsty and they all live happily ever after!
