Save Our Sonics

Save Our Sonics, or SOS, is a Seattle activist group that tried to permanently secure professional basketball in the Seattle, Washington area. They were founded in 2006 in reaction to Howard Schultz's sale of the Seattle SuperSonics to Clayton Bennett, who had proclaimed to Oklahoma City residents only a few months earlier that he and his fellow investors were "100% committed to finding a team for this city in the long term".
On June 16, 2008, a group of over 3,000 Seattle Sonics fans gathered at the U.S. Federal Court House in Seattle to protest the efforts of the Professional Basketball Club to relocate the Seattle SuperSonics NBA basketball team from Seattle to Oklahoma City. June 16, 2008 was the first day of the City of Seattle's lawsuit against the P.B.C. to enforce the remaining two years on the KeyArena lease. This event was covered by local and independent media.
