The Untouchable DJ Drastic

Daniel Michael Johnson (born October 22, 1982 in Brooklyn, New York United States) professionally known as The Untouchable DJ Drastic, is an American DJ, Entrepreneur, Producer, and Radio presenter. He is of Colombian, Puerto Rican, and Scandinavian heritage.

Johnson is the CEO of The Coalition Network. He is the official DJ for Capitol recording artist Mims. He is a founding member of the record label, American King Music. The record label is distributed by Capitol Records.

Johnson attended Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, New York and The College of Staten Island in Staten Island, New York. He majored in Communication, Media, and Performing Arts while enrolled at these institutions.

Biography
Early years

Johnson was born in 1982 on the southwest side of Brooklyn, New York. He was raised by his mother in the neighborhoods of Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Bensonhurst. Johnson was subject to a rough upbringing after being abandoned by his father and the majority of his family at an early age.

Johnson attended , , and The High School of Telecommunications in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He devoted a majority of his teenage years to community services and served as President of BRAVO Volunteer Ambulance Service’s youth division from 1998 - 2000. During this period, Johnson worked odd jobs at franchises such as McDonald’s to generate income while developing his musical skills.

In 2000, Johnson was discovered by a group of established New York night club promoters as a rapper. He declined the opportunity to pursue a recording contract as a rapper and opted to pursue a career as a DJ and Radio presenter.

Career

The Untouchable DJ Drastic acquired his stage name from a group of peers as a reflection of his personality and overall demeanor. In 2001, he made his debut appearance at The Limelight nightclub in New York as a DJ. He gained popularity soon after with follow-up appearances at New York City mega clubs Exit², The Roxy, Sound Factory, Speeed, The Tunnel, and WWF New York. Within a matter of months, Drastic performed for crowds of 2500+ per night. Soon after, he parted ways with his promotional representatives as a result of financial discrepancies.

Following the split, Drastic struggled to find employment as a DJ. He utilized this period to reinvent himself professionally. Drastic embraced the mix tape market as a way to remain relevant within the business. He also began working in retail and became a top sales representative for The Wiz. He relocated to P.C. Richard & Son but quit after deciding to pursue a career in music, full time.

In 2003, The Untouchable DJ Drastic returned to the music scene. He enrolled in college and began his career as a Radio presenter. He joined WSIA-FM after numerous guest appearances on The Dego Show. Soon after, he generated enough momentum to brand his signature mix show, The Grind Session into the broadcast. After a few months of working at local nightclubs, Drastic was granted an opportunity to perform on the main floor of Sound Factory nightclub in New York City. He was offered a residency on the main floor of the nightclub. This was a rare opportunity at the House music based venue which at the time was helmed by DJ Jonathan Peters. Shortly after this deal was set to commence, the venue was shut down permanently by the DEA for violations.

Soon after, The Untouchable DJ Drastic made connections with Mr. Mims and Erik Mendelson. He began touring with Mr. Mims regularly as a DJ. The Untouchable DJ Drastic began to promote and shop Mr. Mims as an artist along with Erik Mendelson and Corey Llewellyn in the United States. This would result in a major recording contract for Mr. Mims and American King Music. It would also enable the release of Music Is My Savior and generate a number one U.S. Billboard Hot 100 single in This Is Why I'm Hot which was produced by Blackout Movement.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic has performed on Method Man’s Tical 0: The Prequel tour and Lloyd Banks’ The Hunger for More tour in addition to others. He has performed on tours with acts such as The Alchemist, Emily King, Gym Class Heroes, Jadakiss, Lil Scrappy, Pharoahe Monch, Saigon, Terror Squad, and others.

By 2004, The Untouchable DJ Drastic was an in-demand act for upscale lounges and nightclubs within the New York tri-state area. He took to the East Coast on his own performing at BMCC and SUNY Purchase amongst others. After numerous contract opportunities fell through, a veteran promotional director granted The Untouchable DJ Drastic a contract as resident of Avalon night club (formerly The Limelight) in New York City. He became the official Hip Hop DJ of Avalon night club. For two years, The Untouchable DJ Drastic dominated the venue performing for crowds of 3000+ per week. He eventually expedited his contact and began to headline venues such as Crobar, Deep, Pacha, and Spirit in New York City amongst others. The Untouchable DJ Drastic returned to Avalon night club in 2007 for one last performance prior to the venue shutting its doors to the public.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic is amongst the first professionals to service substantial amounts of exclusive digital material to the music industry. He is known to have introduced countless artists to the world and discussed this in an interview on WHCR-FM in New York.

In 2005, The Untouchable DJ Drastic founded his own brand, collective, and company in The Coalition Network. He acquired industry professionals and influential DJs from around the world to assist in the overall growth of the movement. America Online and AOL Music selected The Untouchable DJ Drastic as one of their flagship DJs. The opportunity enabled him to broadcast to over two million listeners daily via Radio @ AOL. During this period, The Untouchable DJ Drastic impacted the battle DJ circuit by winning preliminaries in competitions such as Guitar Center Spin Off. He also competed in competitions structured by Technics DMC World.

In 2006, The Untouchable DJ Drastic structured a professional alliance with The BumSquad DJz Worldwide. He joined the collective; adding his momentum to the roster which includes artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Paul Wall, and Trey Songz in addition to many industry DJs, executives, and professionals from around the world. The Untouchable DJ Drastic took to the road on his own impacting the United States performing in Boston, Florida, The Hamptons, Missouri, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Texas. He was scheduled to perform with Mims at WLLD’s The Last Damn Show but did not appear on stage as a result of conflicting flight arrangements following Bay Area performances. He returned to New York to headline New Years Eve at the China Club in Times Square.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic has been requested to speak on panels for conferences such as O.G. Ron C’s Houston Music Conference and Dynamic Producer in addition to others. The Untouchable DJ Drastic began to instruct students during this period as a guest of Scratch DJ Academy in New York City. He also began to impact mobile phones by signing on to broadcast mix shows via mSpot (now owned by Sprint Nextel). The Untouchable DJ Drastic obtained international recognition by appearing in the United Kingdom’s number one urban publication Blues & Soul (now defunct).

In 2007, The Untouchable DJ Drastic headlined showcases at Hunter Mountain in Greene County, New York that were promoted heavily on commercial radio. He teamed up with the third most visited website in the United States, MySpace.com and was branded an official DJ for the company and website. He was added to the Board of Directors for The BumSquad DJz Worldwide as United States National Director of Artist Relations. The position with the company was created specifically for him.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic hit the road with Mims and Microsoft Zune for the 2007 Music Is My Savior tour on select dates where there was no schedule conflict. He signed on as a front man for Las Vegas based company Swurv Media Group, LLC. This enabled him to broadcast via Swurv Radio as a DJ and presenter. During this period, Drastic added his Grind Session mix show to numerous internet radio stations.

In 2008, The Untouchable DJ Drastic joined the on-air staff at Sirius XM Radio Inc. with The BumSquad DJz Worldwide. The Untouchable DJ Drastic headlined numerous performance dates at Webster Hall as well as returning to the for intimate showcases amongst others. He made his on air debut in the United Kingdom on Oxford’s FM107.9 along side DJ Mark Devlin of The Coalition Network. He has continued to travel performing in Florida, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C, and Texas. He returned to New York in the Summer of 2008 to perform at The Plumm. This event introduced clothing company Fame's Allure to the public. The Untouchable DJ Drastic invited Capitol recording artist Che'Nelle into the DJ booth for an intimate surprise performance at the event.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic was a key initiator of The Million DJ March which was scheduled to take place in August of 2008. In August, he premiered the event’s anthem by KRS-One under the same title. The event was postponed although some events did take place. The Untouchable DJ Drastic did not appear at the pre-liminary events after being re-routed upon word of cancellation. He is an avid activist for the union rights of DJs and entertainers.

Philanthopy

The Untouchable DJ Drastic devoted four years of his life to assisting communities in the Brooklyn, New York area by personally delivering holiday meals to homeless families and senior citizens. He has invested over $10,000 in finances to these events.

He has structured successful toy drives for numerous orphanages in the Brooklyn, New York area. He also travels with a staff to assist him in distributing the holiday merchandise.

He has raised financial revenue for numerous volunteer organizations in the Brooklyn, New York area such as BRAVO Volunteer Ambulance.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic has performed as a headliner for numerous charities supporting causes such as Asthma amongst others. He has recently performed for charity events supporting the Alliance for Lupus Research.

He has also recently performed for charity events supporting the Democratic Presidential campaign and Barack Obama.

His efforts are free of politology acts.

Ventures

The Untouchable DJ Drastic was offered an opportunity in the adult entertainment business as an actor and producer but declined because the parties involved were unable to come to a mutual financial agreement.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic is currently designing his own fragrance. The brand is in its development stages. No official release date is available at this time.

He was most recently offered a role in a commercial for Johnnie Walker amongst others but declined as a result of schedule conflict.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic is endorsed on behalf of The BumSquad DJz Worldwide by Skullcandy, Inc. Havoc Distribution, Inc has endorsed an official "BumSquad Energy Drink" introduced by The BumSquad DJz. The beverage is made specifically for DJs and is the first of its kind in the world.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic is engaged in exclusive contractual appearance agreements amongst the business entities behind InCollege.com, NowNYC.com, PromTime.com, TeenNights.com, ThanksgivingEve.net, and NewYearsEve.com. He has also commenced business ventures as a performer with Liv Live Entertainment LLC, SoulFyne Entertainment Group LLC, TrendSettaz Entertainment LLC, and Strike Holdings LLC amongst others.
