Powder game is an internet sandbox simulation game with interacting elements, such as gunpowder and water with physics to provide correct simulations. It was made by Ha55ii in 2007. The project is allegedly now run by a person referred to as TheListo, as it is widely known by Powder Game Players that ha55ii was the one who programmed Block, Wind, and Powder only. It is updated every month or so, every 3 Fridays. Gameplay Powder Game is a sandbox simulation game, in which the user is limited to the reactions of the elements and the ideas that have to offer. The insertion of an element is by left or right mouse click, depending on the selection of the element, and the quantity is based on the pen-size, which ranges from 0 to 9. The user has a series of elements to draw with, which are limited to 20,000, 30,000, or 40,000 pixels, or 'dots,' by selecting the 'dot count' on the element menu. There are also a collection of tools, having no known limit of use, especially because of their size. Objects in the game include boxes, fighters, and user-controlled fighters called 'players.' Dragging is open for all non-solid elements and objects except for player, which is the only object that cannot be dragged, and wood, the only solid that can be dragged. Backgrounds, or 'BGs' are used to change the image on the screen with no change in the reactivity of the elements. For example, 'Toon' makes all pixels look like small bubbles with white outlines, but the pixels remain the same size regardless of how they look. The game is famous for it's use of wind simulation for realistic convection currents and pressure systems. Non-solids are moved easily by wind, which is produced by explosives, 'fan,' certain Player abilities, and the mouse. List of Elements * Powder: The first element in powder game, implemented in veri.son 1.0. The base of all elements, powder does not move side-to-side while falling without some acting force upon it, such as wind. It is flammable but not combustible. When powder touches Seed it creates wood. * Water: This element simulates water in real life. It's a liquid that is unaffected by fire and explosives. Water, on contact with wood, creats seed. Implemented in verison 1.1. * Fire: A flammable terminal gas (this element will die out at some time). * Seed: Properties are similar to powder, but when in contact with powder, a small branch of wood will appear. * Gunpowder: A combustible element with similar properties to powder. * Fan: An element unaffected whatsoever by any other force, constantly producing wind. * Ice: A solid element that becomes snow with high winds and turns water into ice. Reverts to water by fire, torch, or magma. * SuperBall: An element with similar properties to powder that bounces up and down at slowly decreasing rates. A toy, in real life. * Clone: An element that replicates any element in contact with it, and will keep doing so even after the element has long since vanished. Does not clone if 999 or less dots are available. * Fireworks: An element with similar properties to powder, but when ignited, it will launch upwards and explode into the element selected by opposite-click. If the element is not able to be launched, such as being a function or a solid, powder is the default element. Fireworks will launch upwards, but will simply vanish if 999 or less dots remain available. * Oil: A highly flammable liquid less dense than water. * C-4: A non-flammable combustive element that produces large amounts of wind and provides accurate fuses. * Stone: A dense element like powder, becomes powder at high speed winds. * Magma: A liquid, turns stone into magma, burns flammable and combustible elements. Water and magma become steam, and release a small bit of stone to the bottom of the magma. * Virus: A powder-like element designed to turn any element besides fan into virus, and then return it back to that element. When virus interacts with clone, there is a high chance that it will replicate the virus into clone producing more virus. This quickly grows out of control. * Nitro: Nitroglycerin. A highly combustible and flammable element that explodes at high speeds, high speed winds, and fire. * Ant: An element with a mysterious liquid-powder hybrid movement that when in contact with certain solids forms a pathway similar to the pattern of Langton's Ant. * Torch: A solid that burns flammable elements. Water destroys it. * Gas: A rising element that bounces off itself. Burning it creates high wind and affects the gas around it. * Soapy: A liquid similar to water, but it destroys oil on a one to one ratio. Will become bubbles if exposed to high winds. * Thunder: An element with a set pattern of movement depending on it's location. It does not destroy flammable elements, but sends them flying in several directions. It vanishes when in contact with torch and has a chance of not affecting elements. * Metal: A solid that turns into powder with water. When thunder comes in contact with it, it enters the metal and proceeds to move through it in a counter-clockwise movement (at an edge, it will move left from the initial direction). * Bomb: An element that falls slowly, destroying all elements except for clone and metal. While clone is completely unaffected, metal is launched into several directions, unaffected. With torch, it creates fire, and with ice it creates water. Sort of an anti-matter. * Laser: An element with a fixed position based on its location and launch direction. Lasers may go horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. When in contact with metal, laser will bounce off. Laser destroys most elements. Used for logic gates, memory systems, and most recently, Maybe Tommorow's Laser Calc. * Acid: Eats through anything but block, clone, and fan. Acid kills fighters, players, and destroys boxes. Acid is able to resist virus. Will not ignite flammable elements. * Snow: Artificial element, not located on the menu. It can only be made through destruction of ice. It falls slowly and turns into water when it comes in contact with elements at high speeds or with other water. * Wood: Artificial element, made only by placing seed on powder. Wood, though solid, may be dragged. It burns slowly, creating powder in the process. * Steam: Artificial element, created by using bubble fireworks, popping a bubble, combining water with magma, combining soapy with bomb, or using bubble text. Steam is a dragable terminal solid. Also, can be used for disabling Clone List of Objects * Bubble: Created by holding and dragging the mouse. Size varies, in proportion to the length dragged. If a bubble is exposed to any elements, it will turn into that element. * Wheel: Four spokes are attached to a pivot. This object turns or spins when it comes into contact with another element or wind. * Fighter: An armless stick figure which moves around in random and erratic movements. It kills the player, and dies if it comes into contact with a dangerous element. (E.G Magma, thunder.)It also dies when it touches an open border. * Box: A square which varies in size depending on the pen size. Can be destroyed by dangerous elements or an open border, and moves when it comes into contact with a player or fighter. * Player: A stick figure controlled by the user, it looks much like the fighter, only it has a box head. It can go left, right, or jump. When the head is immersed in most elements, it gains the ability to shoot that element. It is also susceptible to death by dangerous elements, fighters, and coming into contact with an open border. * Block: A gray, indestructible wall. It is meant to contain and support volatile or destructive elements. (E.G. Magma, Nitro) It can contain explosions, and cannot be breached by Fan. List of Functions * Wind: Releases a jet of wind in the direction the mouse is pointing at. Left-click makes high pressure, while right-click makes low pressure. Power of wind depends on pen size. * Air: Releases wind in every direction. Left-click is high pressure, while right-click makes low pressure. Power of the wind depends on pen size. * Drag: Non-solid elements and wood move in the direction of the mouse. Radius of affected elements depends on pen size. * Text: Text formed by elements. Element chosen is based on opposite-click element. Powder is the default if the selected text element is invalid (such as block). * Clear: Clears only elements within the selected area. Size of the selected are depends on pen size. * Erase: Clears block within the selected area. Size of the selected area depends on pen size. * Copy/Paste: Copy selects a rectangle of any width and height, while paste selects all of the elements previously in the rectangle. * Pen-S 0-9: Sets the pen size on a measurement scale from 0 to 9. Left-click increases pen size by 1, right-click decreases it by 1. * Scale x1/2/4/8/16: Zooms in, hold down the mouse to move the camera across the screen. Selecting allows dragging, while clicking again after selection will increase or decrease the scale. Left-click increases it by 1, while right-click decreases it by 1. * Speed x1/2/4/8: Sets the speed of the applet by skipping frames (this can be seen when using thunder in an 8-part metal loop, the thunder will stay in place on speed 8, because it moves one pixel per frame in metal.). Left-click increases the speed, while right-click decreases it. * Start/Stop: Pauses the game. * Upload: Takes the selected code of the current game and places it publicly for others to see. * Save: Saves the game at it's current position. Bubbles, wind, and overlapping elements (thunder on metal will erase the metal, elements on fan will erase the fan) will not be saved. * Load: Loads a saved game. Only one saved game is allowed at a time. * Loop on/off: Determines whether the sides will loop so that an element crossing one side will appear on the other. Objects can only loop from side to side. If an element loops onto another element, the loping element will not exist. * Grid 1-7: Creates a grid system. Left-click makes the squares smaller, while right-clicking will make the squares larger. * Dot S/M/L: Increases the maximum element number in a game. S20,000, M30,000, L=40,000 * Reset: Resets the game, clears all elements and objects, creates a wall of block around the border. List of Backgrounds * Non: Shows no background. * Air: Represents pressure. High pressure shows up green and low pressure shows up blue. * Line: Shows pressure and direction. Small brown lines represent wind direction. * Blur: Blurs movement. All moving elements have duplicates slowly fading away trailing behind them. * Shade: All elements glow. * Aura: Wind makes the elements shimmer. * Light: elements darken with movement, brightest when still. * Toon: All elements have a 'membrane' around them that has no effect on them. * Mesh: Wind pressure represented by a grid that is invisible with no wind and is deformed when wind affects it. Powder Game Community The community circulating Powder Game has several outputs of communication among one another. Methods of criticism, sharing codes for game, or simply talking among one another. Official Forums stated below. Publishing Codes The main methods of publishing get/set codes is by publicly placing them on the Dan Ball save data area, a method known as 'uploading.' One cannot use the 'get/set' on other uploads to avoid plagiarism. A user has several functions to work with the code. the first is the 'vote' button. This increases the vote count of the upload by 1. The more votes an upload receives, the higher it stands on the database, allowing more people to see it. Voting has become an extremely important part of the community, as the more votes one gets, the better he is known among other members. If a member dislikes an upload, he may press 'delete,' which if enough deletions occur, the upload will be removed. How to Upload Uploading is a form of sharing your creations on Powder Game with other players. When you upload, your game goes to the 'Save Game" part of Powder Game, where all of the other uploads are displayed. You can vote on certain uploads you think are good! There are various ways to search for different players and uploads. You can type the uploader's name, or the upload title, and choose the time period, past: 27 hours, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, or All. Then all of the uploads matching the criteria are shown. This is a guide on how to upload, made by a well-known member named Soccerking: 1.) The first thing to do is make an account on the Dan-Ball site. If you have not already done this, click on the "Home" tab located in the yellow bar near the top of the Dan-Ball site. After clicking it, you will see a space on the left side of the page that has two white typing bars and the word "Registration" underlined and in blue up above the two lines. Click it. Once you click Registration, just fill out the form. 2.) If you click upload one of three things will happen. Upload past 12 hours to a total of 50, 2nd only once can uploaded, or it will have a typing line and the words 'Ok' and 'Cancel'. If you have a typing line that means that you can upload! If it says Upload past 12 hours to a total of 50, that means that there have been 50 uploads in the past twelve hours. That is the maximum amount of uploads allowed. If it says 2nd only once can uploaded, that means that either you have uploaded from that account, or from that computer in the last two days, and you can't upload, so you have to wait until it has been two days. You can only upload once every two days, and there can only be a total of 50 uploads every 12 hours. 3.) If you get an upload spot, then it can not be taken away unless you refresh, close the internet, or navigate away from the page. A smart thing to do is to wait until there have been 49 uploads in the past 12 hours, and then upload, so your upload will be at the top of the list of recent uploads. 4.) The best times to get an upload spot are 10:00-12:00pm Eastern Standard Time, and 10:00-12:00am Eastern Standard Time.
