Sarthak Sinha

Sarthak Sinha (born March 30, 1996) is a Canadian undergraduate scientist and an activist. At the age of 14, he started conducting novel research in the field of stem cell biology for which he was awarded Silver Medal at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, and was awarded 3rd Place at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2012 and 2013 while representing Canada. He has shared his views on the education system at TEDxEdmonton and has authored a commentary in The Globe and Mail. He is also the educator behind three popular science TED-Ed lessons on wound healing, scaring and balding. These lessons have been viewed over a million times on youtube.
Sarthak has spoken about his research on CBC Eyeopener, Metro News, RED FM, Stem Cell Network, Cure Talk, Genome Alberta, among others.
He is also an ambassador for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and Communications Director for Friends of MSF - Doctors without Borders.
For his work, he has been named one of Canada's Top 20 Under 20 (2013), youngest Top 40 Under 40 in Calgary (2013), Top 25 Canadian Immigrant, Famous 5 and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) of the Year (2015). He is the recipient of Neuroscience Research Prize by the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society, and NRC Research Press/CYSJ Scholarship. He was also listed as "Canada’s future leaders under 25" by Maclean's.
Sinha is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto and is a frequent speaker and panellist at STEM related events.
